Ellen Daly is an acclaimed, versatile, professional, Ottawa-based fiddler. She has performed with numerous Folk, Country, Rock, Cover, Electronic/DJ, Bluegrass, Classical, Jazz and Fiddle groups, and she has been asked to sit in with many bands while visiting Nashville, TN at venues such as Tootsie's Orchid Lounge, Rippy's, and The Blue Bar.
Alongside her years of performing, Ellen is an active violin instructor and recording artist, having recorded countless genres, and she has also composed some of her own tunes/pieces. Some of those compositions have been featured in her performances, and she wrote and performed the score in her high school's rendition of the play Unity (1918), for which she received the Cappie award for Creativity/Musicianship. Ellen was also in the pit band for the 2015 production of Brian Doyle's Up To Low and got to assist with some of the scoring of the play with Canadian folk music singer-songwriter Ian Tamblyn. Since then, this play has been picked up by the National Arts Centre and will be put on once again at the NAC in 2018.
Ellen has traveled and participated in numerous fiddle competitions in Canada, the US and Ireland, and has won prestigious trophies. She was the Canadian Open Old Time Junior Fiddle Champion in 2011 and was the runner-up in 2010, she is a five-time Vankleek Hill Fiddle Champion, and she was the Under 16 Eastern North American Irish Fiddle Champion in 2008.
